Brief Background
Svava has a BA in Contemporary Dance and Education and began studying yoga 7 years ago as a natural progression to her movement intersts. Yoga instantly attracted Svava as it offers so many more aspects and benefits other than the purely physical. 'I knew from the very first class that I wanted to study and become a yoga teacher, it made sense on every level.' Svava attends regular workshops with senior teachers and intensive courses including the yearly Iyengar convention led by teachers from India.
Iyengar Yoga teacher training is extremely thorough and rigorous and incorporates the use of props to enable the inclusion of all levels of ability. All the postures can be adapted and enhanced with simple use of equipment to suit every student. Svava has been teaching yoga for the last 3 years privately,in schools and in health and fitness centres with both adults and children. Prior to yoga teaching Svava taught pilates and dance in primary schools.
Svava has a loyal clientel made up of health and fitness fans, busy mums seeking quality 'me' time, and professionals working in the city who attend her classes regularly. These students describe her as 'supportive, caring and sensitive to the individual' and a teacher who is able to 'communicate and instruct clearly'. Although attention to detail is important Svava nurtures a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in her clases. Svava has worked with many groups of primary and secondary age children recognising the many benefits yoga can offer to youngsters who lead challenging and busy lives.
